DART Command Central presented the Emergency Animal Shelter App (EASApp) at the 2024 National Alliance of State Animal and Agricultural Emergency Programs (NASAAEP) on December 3rd to great success!
At the NASAAEP conference, Deb and Danica spoke and showcased EASApp, demonstrating how a localized initiative to help a single team in Vermont evolved into a comprehensive operational platform and user-friendly app for animal emergency management and volunteers. What began as a focused effort to support pet care during the unprecedented Vermont flooding has now transformed into an innovative data management solution, launching nationally in Q1 2025 to serve states and teams across the United States.
In other words, while the foundation is based on how Vermont cares for pets, each state/team has unique data requirements that EASApp is working to address, all while keeping a seamless and straightforward interface all volunteers can understand.
As DARTCC raises more funds and expands the functionality to address the various ways teams manage animals, we are also creating a consensus about the base requirements for any emergency shelter helping to standardize and secure data for local, state, and national records regarding animals in disasters.”
During the conference, DARTCC made a lot of connections and met many people from across the country. This helped to establish a network of disaster teams that can help us create a consensus that lays the foundation for EASApp’s framework, and then expands on the data needed and required for local, state, and national records regarding animals in disasters.
DARTCC would also like to thank Danica Stein and Chris Allbright, who helped the EASApp presentation and conference go smoothly, made direct connections, listened to their community and team needs, and gathered information about recent legislation and the resources needed during disaster emergencies.
