Apps for Volunteers helping pets before, during, and after a disaster

The Emergency Animal Shelter App (EASApp™)

EASApp™ is a stand-alone, web-based platform designed to make emergency pet sheltering simple, consistent, and accessible. Built with volunteers in mind, it replaces paper processes with an easy-to-use interface that works seamlessly on mobile devices, tablets, and desktop browsers.

How It Works

  • Quick Start for Volunteers – A volunteer logs in to begin the intake process, starting with the pet owner’s contact information.

  • Clear Shelter Guidelines – Owners review and agree to a digital waiver outlining shelter rules before leaving their pet.

  • Urgent Care Flagging – Any pets in need of immediate medical attention are flagged so veterinarians or vet techs can respond quickly.

  • Complete Pet Profiles – Each animal receives a digital record that follows them throughout their stay.

Ongoing Care & Tracking

Once intake is complete, volunteers and staff can:

  • Record veterinary or medical interventions

  • Document daily care and feeding

  • Track when pets leave temporarily (e.g., for vet visits)

  • Log the final release back to their families

EASApp™ also includes a basic volunteer log and time tracking feature in this first phase, helping teams capture critical staffing data while maintaining focus on caring for animals.

DARTCC’s Vision for EASApp™

The Emergency Animal Shelter App (EASApp™) is just the beginning. With initial development made possible through grants and donations, DARTCC is building a platform that will standardize and strengthen emergency pet sheltering nationwide.

At full potential, EASApp™ will provide a complete, intuitive system that simplifies volunteer work, ensures consistent sheltering practices, and transforms real-time data into training, guidance, and support for response teams.

Future Modules on the Roadmap

  • Training – Provide certifications and ongoing learning

  • Scheduling – Assign and track volunteer shifts
