Emergency Animal Shelter App Developer Receives Grant from an Animal Welfare Foundation

Waterbury, VT – August 5, 2024 – DART Command Central, a nonprofit who is developing a mobile app to help communities prepare for disasters and manage temporary emergency pet shelters, is pleased to announce a second grant from The Irving and Phyllis Millstein Foundation for Animal Welfare, for $40,000. The Foundation is ‘An Animal-Centered Philanthropy®,’ and among its giving priorities are grants for animal relocation, care, and shelter support during emergencies.

Emergency Animal Shelter App (EASA) Validated By VDART

DART Command Central's EASA, a mobile app that helps communities prepare for disasters and manage temporary emergency pet shelters, is pleased to announce $15,000 in funding provided by Vermont Disaster Animal Response Team (VDART).

Live Beta Testing During Vermont Flooding Disaster in July, 2023.

Six volunteers with the Central Vermont DART stood up a pet-friendly shelter in cooperation with the American Red Cross at the Barre Auditorium July 10.  Using the beta version of DARTCC's Shelter Module, they have been able to focus on the care of the pets and not the paperwork.

2023 State Farm Grant Recipient

We are thrilled to be the recipient of a $5,000 grant from State Farm in 2023.  DARTCC was able to use the funding from last year to create the beta version of the Shelter Module.  We could not have developed this beta version with out the funding from State Farm.

Using Technology to Improve Emergency Pet Sheltering During a Disaster

DART CC and VDART spoke at the Vermont Emergency Preparedness Conference in Killington, Vermont on September 21, 2022.  They also partnered to host a table at the conference.
